We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented customs rater to join our dynamic team.

Job Description:

As a Senior Customs Rater, you will be responsible for accurately assessing and classifying goods for customs purposes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in streamlining customs processes and supporting our clients’ import/export operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and classify imported and exported goods in accordance with customs regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and policies
  • Collaborate with customs authorities and clients to resolve classification issues
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Liaise with CBSA, CFIA, ECCC, and other government agencies to address complex regulatory matters.
  • Provide expert support on rulings, refunds, remissions, appeals, and drawback procedures.
  • Oversee and facilitate client processing through the CARM client portal, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a Customs Rater or similar role
  • Canadian Customs specialist (CCS) certification is required, LCB is an assets
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations and tariff classifications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English
  • A second language in Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and customs brokerage software
